How do I create a binder?
A Binder is a type of document that allows you to collect and organize text from multiple books, documents, and other materials on LiveCarta. You can add content to binders from materials you have purchased or created on LiveCarta, and add in your own custom content.
To learn how to add text from various sources into a binder please see FAQ on How do I add things to my binder?
-
On the “My Library” page, under the "Binders" tab, click the plus sign button to create a new binder.
-
Give the binder a title (you can still update the title later on as long as it hasn't been published) and hit "SAVE".
-
An alternative method is to highlight a passage when reading a material and select “Add to Binder”. From here you may select an existing Binder, or create a new one, then hit “Save”.
-
A pop-up will temporarily appear that will allow you to go to the Binder, and you may continue these steps.
-
-
-
To start adding content to your Binder you can add segments from the table of contents in the "Front of Paper" tab, or go into the "Segment" tab and select "ADD NEW SEGMENT".
-
You can use the drag and drop function (indicated by three horizontal lines) to change the order of segments.
-
-
Name your segment and click "SAVE" or select "SAVE AND ADD" if you want to continue making new segments.
-
During this step, or later by selecting the pencil icon next to the segments, you may designate a segment as an introduction. This introduction segment will be anchored as the first segment and cannot be moved.
-
-
Click the segments to open the content block, this space is where you can add your content.
-
Select a content block to start writing, a toolbar will appear with options that can be used to customize format and style. You can include multimedia such as videos (such as YouTube and other video service sites), pictures, audio, and more to add context and make your binder more interactive.
-
Use the "Actions" menu on the bottom right corner of a content block to add a new section or content block, and remove segments.
-
Select "Preview" from the “OPTIONS” menu to see what your binder will look like if it’s shared or published. Your work saves as you type so you can exit the page at any point and your binder will remain in an unpublished editable mode.
