Creation of the questions for the Self-Assessment Quiz using AI or manually
The Self-Assessment Quiz tool is designed to support educators, academic specialists, and authors in creating more interactive and engaging learning experiences. It provides greater flexibility in assessment creation, allowing content creators to either manually design quizzes or leverage AI-generated questions for efficiency.
This feature is available for authors (co-authors) of original books. To create the questions, this setting should be chosen in the book's editable mode.
- From the "My Library" tab, select your book.
- In the "Front of Book" tab, go to Settings and check the box for “Self-assessments for each chapter of this book”. You will have two options - Manual Quiz Creation or AI-generated self-assessments.
- If you want to add a quiz manually, choose the option “Manually create self-assessments for each chapter in this book”, then go to Options at the top of the page and click Preview. In the left-side menu, the “Quizzes” tab will appear. Click the tab, and all chapters will be listed. Choose the chapter and add your questions manually. Supported question types include:
- Single-choice questions
- True/false questions
Manually added quiz questions must be approved by the author after creation. Questions can be edited, deleted, or hidden at any time.
- Similarly, you can “Generate and show AI-powered self-assessments for each chapter of this book”. Go to Options at the top of the page and click Preview. In the left-side menu, the “Quizzes” tab will appear. Click the tab, and all chapters will be listed. Choose the chapter. The third option in the drop-down menu “Generate question” will appear. The number of questions created and the length of the generation process depend on the chapter size and content.
There is no need to approve the questions generated by AI.
Authors can choose the number of questions visible to users (from 1 to 20).
- If the author wants to add quiz questions to all chapters, it’ll be done automatically at the moment of publishing if the checkbox “Generate and show questions automatically after publication” is active (the initial checkbox “Self-assessments for each chapter of this book” needs to be chosen).
- A co-author assigned to the whole book can create quiz questions manually or generate them using AI for the entire book. If the author is assigned only to certain chapters, they have the right to create quizzes only for those chapters.
